The Newton Fire Department would like to announce the start of the Newton Fire Department Junior Firefighter Program. The program will enlist the help of teenage boys and girls and train them in some of the jobs that firefighters perform at emergency scenes. The program is one of many successfully sponsored by fire departments in the county and will greatly aid manpower at emergencies. It’s a great thing to list on college applications for volunteer service and it’s a valuable way to give back to your community. You must be at least 16 years old, have permission from your parents and live in Newton or the surrounding municipalities.
