Fire in the wall on Mount View Street

The Newton Fire Department responded to a reported fire in the wall at 25 Mount View St at around 11:20 pm on December 1st. The Newton Police Department arrived on scene and confirmed that there was a smoke condition in the residence and proceeded to evacuate the occupants of the home. The fire was in the wall and this was confirmed with the use of the thermal imager. Hand tools were used to open the wall to get at the seat of the fire. Once the wall was opened the fire was then quickly extinguished and damage was contained to around the flu pipe. The Newton Fire Department, The Newton First Aid Squad and the Newton police responded to this incident. Fire and water damage was minor and no injuries were reported.
